Ali Cheema's areas of research are political economy, public choice, development economics, economic history, governance and decentralization and his work has a strong policy focus. His work uses a combination of methodologies that include social network analysis, ethnographies, archival work, and GIS mapping along with rigorous econometric analysis.
He has a BA in Mathematics and Statistics from Government College Lahore and a BA Honours in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from University of Oxford. A Rhodes Scholar, he also holds an MPhil in Economics and Politics and a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge.

Dr. Cheema has recently been asked to co-convene (with Profs. Barry Weingast, Stanford and Jean Paul Faguet, London School of Economics) the Initiative of Policy Dialogue (IPD), Columbia University, Taskforce on Decentralization. He is also co-convener (with Prof. Mark Robinson, Institute of Development Studies, Sussex) of the State Capacity programme, funded by the Development Research Centre (DRC) on the Future State, Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK. He was also one of the founding members (along with Asim Khwaja, Harvard; Jishnu Das, World Bank and TahirAndrabi, Pomona, College) of the Stockholm Challenge Award winning portal, Relief Information System for Earthquakes, Pakistan (RISEPAK).

Anjum Nasim started his professional academic career with the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad in 1974 and joined the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in 1986 where he served as Professor of Economics (1991-2010), Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (2006-2008) and Provost (2009). After retiring from LUMS in 2010, Anjum Nasim served in an advisory capacity in the formation and establishment of IDEAS and was appointed Senior Research Fellow at IDEAS in 2012. His publications include papers in the Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Development Economics and International Tax and Public Finance. His current research interests are public finance and macroeconomic policy.

Anjum Nasim holds a BA from Government College Lahore, B.Sc. Honours from London School of Economics and an MA and PhD from the University of Essex.

Reehana Raza is an Associate Fellow of IDEAS. She is currently working at the World Bank and has over twelve years of experience in the areas of economics of education, institutional economics and public sector economics and governance. She has consulted for the World Bank in the Europe and Central Asian Human Development Unit in Washington and worked for a four-year UK DFID funded research project on the Economics of Tertiary Education in South Asia. Rehang Raza has also consulted for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), USAID, and other multi-lateral and bilateral agencies.

Reehana Raza has a BA degree in International Relations from Mount Holyoke College, an MPhil in Economics and Politics of Development and a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge.
