Many analysts and observers of India’s economy are proclaiming that India’s moment has arrived and it is now poised to rival China in terms of economic prosperity. However, Dr. Ashoka Mody, a Professor of Economics at Princeton University with rich experience in the global economy, contradicts this assertion by saying that India is still mired in deep economic malaise. In this episode, Dr. Ijaz Nabi and Dr. Ashoka Mody disentangle India’s economy and explain how India’s economic problems hold relevance for Pakistan.
Dr. Ijaz Nabi is a Country Director at the International Growth Centre (IGC) and the Executive Director at the Consortium for Development Policy Research (CDPR). He is also part of the visiting faculty at the Department of Economics, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Previously he worked at the World Bank. Dr. Nabi has a Ph.D. from Warwick University.
Dr. Ashoka Mody is the Charles and Marie Robertson Visiting Professor in International Economic Policy and Lecturer in Public and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University.
