From Crisis to Resilience: Rethinking Water Management in Pakistan?

In Pakistan, poor water management coupled with climate change has severely intensified the frequency and intensity of floods. The unpredictable rainfall patterns and inadequate infrastructure has further worsened Pakistan’s water calamity. In this episode, Dr. Muhammad Azeem Ali Shah and Amen Jalal discuss water management issues prevailing in the country, recurring floods as a result of the climate crisis as well as climate smart agricultural interventions to improve water productivity. 

Dr. Muhammad Azeem Ali Shah is a water governance professional with over 19 years of experience in conducting applied research for development projects in the South and Central Asian region. He is currently Chief of Party and international Researcher at IWMI Pakistan

Amen Jalal is PhD student in economics at the London School of Economics. She has a Bachelors in economics from Yale University. She has previously worked at the World Bank as a research assistant in the DIME and ID4D teams. Her research interests include labor, gender and environmental issues in low income countries.
